Dr. Robert E. Mackey began his practice in downtown Corbin in 1963. Some years later, Dr. Mackey moved into the old bank building downtown on 1st Street.
In 1984 the growing practice moved into a much larger facility where it remains today.
In 2002, Dr. Benjamin Mackey joined his father in practice and expanded the services of Mackey Vision Center to include medical and surgical eye care.
In January 2014, Dr. Robert Mackey retired after 50 years of providing quality service to the Tri-County area.
In Spring 2015 the practice experienced exponential growth and it became evident to Dr. Benjamin Mackey that growth was going to be necessary in order to keep up with patient volume and to continue to provide the highest level of patient care available.
In August 2015 Mackey Vision Center acquired a new office on the opposite side of Corbin and expanded into having two locations, North and South. The practice continues to operate out of both locations at this time to provide the best level of care possible to all patients.
